European Mobility Week 2023 took place with Record Attendance

In 2023, European Mobility Week broke its record for campaign participation, with 3351 towns and cities registering into activities to raise awareness for sustainable and active mobility between 16-22 September.

Towns and cities from 45 different countries from Europe and beyond including Argentina, Ecuador, Japan, Mexico, Peru and South Korea showed participation in the main event week. Local authorities used this week to test out innovative planning measures, new infrastructure and technology, measure air quality and noise pollution and gather feedback from the public. Participating towns and cities – both old and new – have joined an international community of local and regional authorities, organizations and individuals committed to promoting behavioral change in favor of sustainable and active mobility.

Returning cities Dublin and Brussels have organized a wide range of events to encourage Dubliners to travel by bike instead of car, such as the "Great Dublin Cycle Tour" , "Bicycle Disco", and a Car-Free Sunday in Brussels, according to Mobiel 21. Approximately 1.2 million people in the capital benefited from this initiative. A survey of Brussels residents by the Clean Cities Campaign showed that almost 60% of respondents were in favor of going one car-free day a week.
