The Road Safety Training, organized within the scope of the SUMP Izmir Project, lasting for three days, was completed with the participation of experts from the relevant units and subsidiaries of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and the relevant district municipalities. The first day of the training was titled “Urban Road Safety Training” and it was given by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Arıkan Öztürk from Gazi University, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Department of Civil Engineering.
The first day sessions, which covered road safety, speed management and safe pedestrian mobility in a comprehensive manner, concluded with a workshop focused on Izmir.
The second and third days of the training were delivered by Elke Schimmel, an expert in planning and sustainable mobility studies and Director and CEO of November:city, a Netherlands-based consultancy company. International examples of major road safety strategies, the Vision Zero principle, safety requirements of different road users in traffic and critical elements were discussed. The second and third day of the training was concluded with interactive workshops.
