4th Meeting of the SUMP Turkey Project Steering Committee

The 4th SUMP Türkiye Steering Committee Meeting took place on December 4th, 2024, at the premises of the Union of Municipalities of Türkiye (UMT).

The meeting, chaired by Dr. Şengül Altan ARSLAN, Deputy Secretary General of UMT, was attended by Dr. Tijen İĞCİ, Head of Department for EU Investments at the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, Dr. Göktuğ KARA, Coordinator of the Transport Policy and Climate Change Team at the European Union Delegation to Türkiye, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation, and Climate Change, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Directorate for EU Affairs and İLBANK.

Following the opening remarks, Project Director Dr. Wolfgang Backhaus highlighted the recent work conducted by the European Commission on SUMP, emphasising the importance of the SUMP Türkiye project. Subsequently, SUMP Türkiye Team Leader Dr. Volkan Recai Çetin and Key Expert-2 Ayşe Sarp Gür provided detailed updates on the progress made within the project to date. After the feedback from participants and a Q&A session, discussions focused on the planning and collaborative opportunities for the remaining phases of the project.
